A haircut can be a lot. The clippers buzz, the cape is tight, the mirror is loud, and somebody your child doesn’t know is standing behind them with scissors. Our barbers have training for this.
Call ahead and tell us what your kid needs. That one phone call is most of the work — it means nobody has to figure it out while they’re already in the chair.
What sets them off, what calms them down, whether clippers are the problem or the cape is, and how long they can usually last. If you’d rather text it than say it out loud, that’s fine.
Slower, with breaks. They can hold the mirror or a phone. If they need to get out of the chair, they get out of the chair — and we pick it up when they’re ready.
Scissors instead of clippers if the buzzing is what does it. No cape if the cape is what does it. A shorter, simpler cut is a fine result if that’s what today allows.
No sighing, no rushing, no audience. We have seven barbers and a full room most days — ask us about a quieter time and we’ll tell you honestly when that is. confirm
In July 2026 the shop took part in Klamath Falls’ Disability Pride Festival. The Herald and News wrote that Faded Rey’s barbers “have received specialized training to provide haircuts for individuals with sensory sensitivities.”
“We wanted to give back to the community, especially this often pushed aside segment of it. Hair cuts can be intense for those with sensory difficulties and it’s a real honor to help these families.” Reynaldo Garcia, owner · Herald and News, July 2026
“Reynaldo was amazing and patient with my 5 year old son who has ADHD. Despite my son moving around and not wanting to have his hair cut, Reynaldo did an absolute fantastic job.”

“Nick specifically was AWESOME… our 1 year old, who is a difficult cut, needed a haircut. He was able to work around his movements and his calm demeanor definitely helped.”

No. Book any haircut — then call the shop at (541) 205-3202 and tell us what to expect. A kids’ cut is booked as a normal 40-minute appointment; we just use the time differently.
The same as any other cut. Kids’ haircuts start at $30 and are for twelve and under. There is no extra charge for taking our time.
Then we stop. A partial cut and a kid who will come back is a better outcome than a finished cut and a kid who never will. Come back another day and we’ll pick up where we left off.
No. Adults have sensory sensitivities too, and the same barbers and the same approach apply. Call and say what you need.
Any of the seven. If you’d like a specific recommendation for your child, call and describe what they’re like — we’ll point you at the barber who is the best fit that week.
